I think he is inviting in disaffected Anglicans who will quickly morph into happy and dedicated Catholics. The only disaffected Catholics that there are are those who never had a smidgeon of an inkling of what the Church is really about. Of Jesus' 12 handpicked apostles one was an outright betrayer, another denyed him, and only one was not too cowardly to show up at the crucifixion. And if someone is disaffected because the apostles successors mostly follow in their footsteps, they just don't get it.

As a cradle Catholic, now exCatholic, I also made excuses for the Catholic Church for 38 years, but have repented of the confusion and deceptions I was taught there.

I was involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the early '70's and got into some serious Bible Study. . .

. . . after trying to be a good Catholic for another 15 years, it became abundantly clear that salvation is obtained through faith in Jesus Christ and not through personal good works, participating in religious rituals and membership in a church.

Where you see the apostles successors mostly follow in their footsteps I grew to see the blind leading the blind and lost people playing church.

Where you can excuse some really terrible popes, cardinals, bishops and priests as a few bad apples in a good barrel . . .

My wife and I left 20 years ago, and haven't looked back.
