> Burke, if I am understanding this incorrectly, please just X out this paragraph, but it seems to me that you set each conversation up, as if whatever I say is going to be wrong.Burke said: I would like you to clarify exactly what you mean when you say, "but to preach the gospel...which we know the gospel as 1 Cor 15:1-4." Do you mean that this passage IS the gospel or that Paul's writings are the only gospel?
On the contrary, I simply wish to establish what you believe. The disadvantage of internet posting is you cannot see the face of the person with whom you are corresponding, nor have an immediate take on what they actually mean.
> To clarify what I mean, is that the gospel we follow was given by the risen Christ to the Apostle Paul, whom He appointed to be a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher to the Gentiles. That is us. (Hope you don't mind...but I think rather than just listing the verse...it is easier and time saving to the reader, just to post it....)
2Ti 1:11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. (Paul speaking...)
Paul was given a special commission to the uncircumcision (Gentiles) while Peter was given the commission to the circumcision (Israel, the Jews).
Gal 2:7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me (Paul), as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
So, being reasonable, I understand that what Paul was sent to preach, as an apostle of God, and being the teacher of the Gentiles...I should pay particular interest in what Jesus from Heaven, wanted Paul to transmit to us. Don't you think so?
The problem is that there is only one gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul acknowledges himself that there is but one body and Paul did
not distinguish between Jew and Gentile. "When scripture says, 'those who believe in him will have no cause for shame, it makes no distinction
between Jew and Greek: all belong to the same Lord who is rich enough, Romans 10 11-12.
Peace,
