They are real and they are often very grave. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ That is true but the victims of sin are not just the people who commit them, and so it is usually not possible to identify the sinners by its consequences wthout a Divine private revelation. I don't know whether the priest in question had such a revelation or not, but on the other hand no one can rationally say he was wrong without also having had such a revelation. From the hubub it caused I can only conclude that there were a plethora of Divine private revelations, or there are a lot of irrational people.

It was at worst wrong, unwarrented, without rational basis, and imprudent. It was at best, correct. In a case like that, I generally ignore such stuff, and expect others to do likewise, but since you seemed so sure it was wrong, I probed for some reason for your certitude. You failed to present any evidence or consistent argument for your view. Feelings, repeated assertions, and ad hominem insults do not constitute a reaonable argument. Father Josef Friedl, one of the 31 deans who said they would refuse to accept the episcopal ordination of Father Gerhard Maria Wagner, told a public forum that he opposes the discipline of priestly celibacy and lives with his girlfriend; he said that his parishioners have no objections. Funny to get in touch with someone who knows either hurricaes or tornados and once again... I got into the discusson which is worse? I still keep offering up my gripes about free trade and another told me today yeah, go back to Reaganomics but I think free trade put the seal on the mess. I still have a home, I'm thankful. I'm still a klutz but need to avoid things I could trip on... get updated glasses someday. Slowly getting in touch with friends here again.... another just lost her job. Say a prayer for her please. Doing a lot of praying these days myself and studying. Offer it up to the Lord... doing that daily. I have a lot to be thankful for though I admit, I fear I'm contributing to the problem until I'm employed again. (oh yeah, at the library, no access at home... 32 minutes left.) ___ Last addition.... face it, the whole world since Adam & Eve is botched, we know that, no surprise. Was the tsunami God's punishment? More importantly does it matter for us to say what was 'just nature' and what was a wake up call from God? Yes, I believe God is in control... I also remember seeing places devestates... either way we have a lot of goofy things in this country that need to be corrected.
