The Benedict/Obama meeting, just wondering |
Lead | ||
|
By all accounts it went well to hear the both sides and Obama expects to have a strong relationship with the Pope so does Obama somehow get a pass on his
abortion position since he is so much in sync with the church on the social justice issues? OR did he secretly tell the Pope he's really not that
pro-abortion despite conservative press reports to the contrary? Pope Benedict looked very expressive, interested, even happy in some of the photos and
I'm just wondering how to decipher all this. Paul - you first.

I don't read anything that the pope gave Obama a pass on abortion. To the contrary he called for the president to back up his pledge for common ground with
actions. It has been pointed out that the Vatican does not at all have the same view that some anti Obama Catholic conservatives do. These American
conservatives oppose Obama politically and will use abortion as a political wedge issue. The Vatican looks for practical approaches to the same ends, reducing
abortion, that Obama has pledged so they are in sync on abortion in that sense. Economically and politically the Vatican has much more in common with Obama
than American conservatives.

But what I'm getting at is do you think Obama has finally seen the handwriting on the wall, that doing everything the abortion lobby tells him to do has
its political drawbacks? When he now talks about abortion he does so in a deliberately centrist fashion so much so that if you were living in a cave the past
few years and didn't know his legislative history on the matter you'd come away from his professorial style thinking he's above the narrow
special-interest groups and may even lean pro-life. My own personal opinion is it's all an illusion but I'd like to be proven wrong.

"Everything the abortion lobby tells him to do". I think you are correct. If his seeking common ground and at the same time looking for the influence of Catholic bishops to promote his legislative agenda is as real as I believe it is then he needs to have a real centerist position.

Well good for him. Maybe a good place for Obama to start would be to tell Whoopi Goldberg to get her tubes tied.

If the universe is "everything that exists" then God is part of it. If the universe needs a creator so does God.

If President Obama were truly trying to make abortions safe, legal, and rare; he would stop fighting the partial birth abortion and not allow abortion any time
after the first month of pregnancy. The highly successful abortion doctor, Berard Nathenson, who realized that he had lied when forming NARAL and quoting facts
about the number of illegal abortions before Roe v. Wade, has now stated that with our modern medicine, there is no need of abortion to save the mothers life.
Both of these stipulations would reduce abortion. It wouldn't be acceptable to any pro-life person but it would allow Obama to clear his
"conscience".
God bless you, |

MY BODY, MY CHOICE
That is the mantra of the pro-abortion Obama supporters. But under Obama care it ain't gonna happen. |

I agree totally with Cursillo, you have to back your words with actions and everybody says they'd like to see abortion rare, it's the thing to say.

You know what "social justice" means to Obama? It means the only wage on the entire planet (after he turns the US over to a global government) will
be about $8 USD per hour. (Except for people such as himself and his followers. Obama is nothing short of a terrorist attack on this country, and he has allies
that wish to also destroy it. Of course, they will ensure they will be protected from any of the atrocities they are engineering, including accountability for
them.
If the Pope really knew what Obama's agenda is, Obama wouldn't have been allowed to step foot in the Vatican. The only reason he did any way was to try and appeal to the one billion Catholic in the world. |

Obama's visit to the Vatican was very like the late Mrs. Peron's.
DEUS meus, ex toto corde amo Te super omnia, quia es infinite bonus et infinite amabilis; et ob amorem Tui proximum meum
diligo sicut meipsum, eique, si quid in me offendit, ignosco.
