Posts: 1 07/15/09 17:37:06	Tags : ivf What is "selective application"? Is that when you've had multiple embryos implanted, but then decide to abort all but x number of them? What are your thoughts on allowing embryos to be destroyed, because you already implanted however many you want to implant? What about your thoughts on embryonic stem cell research? I believe embryos are human lives, with souls, so the logical decision would be destruction of them, or even their use in research, is wrong because it amounts to murder. But then I think about the good that comes from my wife and I having a child, which is another way to build God's kingdom, and am very tempted to say that IVF is worth it, that embryos used for research is worth a good couple having a kid. What do you think? Thanks very much for your thoughts.

Posts: 385 07/15/09 23:52:25	A good couple can adopt a kid as well. The problem with IVF is the left overs. If you can deal with the concept of left over people then you have made your choice.

Posts: 69 07/16/09 09:01:36	My wife's son and daughter-in-law want to adopt. But there is not enough children available. It looks bad for them. There is a high rate of failure with in vitro. Thus, similar to abortion in that sense. I had a coworker who used in vitro and she was pregnant with 6. 3 were aborted to save the other 3. It seems they saved as many as they could but still killed 3 of them.

Posts: 455 07/27/09 14:55:34 Camper	Couple years ago, a student at the school where I work was a surrogate mother for a couple in which the wife was unable to bear children. (She has been a surrogate a few times and basically paid her way through school that way. It pays well and whatever agency/clinic arranges it, covers all related medical costs). Ultrasound showed she had twins and the couple only wanted one child; the husband was pushing her to abort but there was no way she would do it. "If you only want one, I'll keep the other one!" No particular religious reason here, just her own human sense. Peace, Bro. Mike
