By all accounts it went well to hear the both sides and Obama expects to have a strong relationship with the Pope so does Obama somehow get a pass on his abortion position since he is so much in sync with the church on the social justice issues? OR did he secretly tell the Pope he's really not that pro-abortion despite conservative press reports to the contrary? Pope Benedict looked very expressive, interested, even happy in some of the photos and I'm just wondering how to decipher...

Conventional wisdom would have it that in these cases it's bad for the pro-life cause but I would say it's bad for both sides since it throws the spotlight on late-term abortions and in Tiller's case post-viability abortions (after 21 weeks). Most pro-choicers actually prefer to talk about much earlier abortions, the closer to conception the better. Just a quarter to throw into the fountain here.
